Results
Subjectively all patients were satisfied with their new voices. One patient went aboard and one patient failed to follow up; hence and only early postoperative results could be obtained (5 and 12 months). Their voices was close to female at the last follow up. All patients maintained a female range of vocal pitch at 2-6 years of follow up. The pre-and postoperative fundamental frequencies were 100-172 Hz (mean 147 Hz) and 264-420 Hz (mean 315 Hz), respectively. The mean pre-and postoperative jitters were 2.35% and 0.98% respectively, and mean pre-and postoperative shimmers were 0.82 dB and 0.69 dB respectively. The mean maximum phonation times were 15 and 13 seconds pre-and postoperative, respectively. Figure 2 demonstrates sample pre-and post-operative spectrograms from one patient.

Two patients developed granulation tissue at the anterior commissure 1-2 months postoperatively. These were well taken care of by 1 session of carbon dioxide laser vaporization via microlaryngoscopic approach.
